What to Expect

If you are wondering what an acupuncture appointment is like, this is the first visit. Plan on about two hours with me, Dr. Lisa Grant, at Spring Mountains Acupuncture in Las Vegas. The first hour is a health history and counseling — what has been going on, what you have already tried, how you eat and sleep, and what is stressing the system. The second hour is your first treatment.

The needles are single-use, sterile, and hair-thin. Most people feel a brief pinch. They are not the needles used for blood draws. If you are needle-phobic, I offer a laser, needle-free option.

Care is more than needles

I counsel patients on food, stress, habits, and the rest of the week — not needles alone. You spend one hour a week with me. If the root cause is in how you eat, sleep, or carry stress, that hour will not fix a 168-hour week. Acupuncture opens the door. The plan we make is how you walk through it.

Chinese herbs

When herbs are appropriate, I formulate them for you and your presentation. They are not a forever prescription. As things settle, we reduce the dose until you no longer need them.

If you are coming for fertility

A consult is how you start. If you have labs, bloodwork, or a cycle history, bring them. I use what you already have to shape the diagnosis and plan.

Education is optional onboarding, not a gate. The Fertility Reset Roadmap is a free email course. The 90 Day Fertility Reset is self-paced. Neither is required before we meet.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. I do not bill insurance. You receive a receipt with the information you need if your plan reimburses acupuncture. Check with your insurer about coverage.

How often we start

My usual starting plan is about four weekly visits, then we space treatments based on how you are responding. That is a typical cadence, not a guarantee. Your plan depends on what we find and what you are working toward.

About the needles

A brief pinch or a dull ache is what most people notice. The needles are solid, not hollow like a blood-draw needle. If you want the laser option, tell me when we sit down and we will use it. Follow-up visits are shorter than this first appointment.
